Casa Sandra is in the Ribatejo area near to Fatima, Tomar, Entrocamento, Lisbon and in the district of Santarem. It is just over an hours drive to the west coast where there are several exciting resorts to visit such as Nazaré, Caldas da Rainha and S. Martinho do Porto as well as many other places to visit.
Good value flights into Porto or Lisbon airport can be easily found, usually on the Internet. We are around one and a half hours drive from Lisbon Airport and two and a half hours from Porto though both are virtually motorway the whole way.
The drive down from Porto is particularly pleasant as the motorway is tree lined for most of the way and effectively empty for much of the time. There are also regular train services from Lisbon to Porto and several possible stops, the most convenient being Tomar. Casa Sandra is within easy reach of Tomar and it is just as easy to hire a car at the airport and drive to us or let the train take the strain and hire a car in Tomar itself.

There is so much to see if you want to, yet it is so easy to do nothing and relax. It is normal in Portugal to eat out and it is great value for money. Because we are in a real village there is no sensation of being in a tourist location. All your neighbours will be Portuguese and when you go out to shop or eat or travel you do these things exactly as the Portuguese do and pay the same prices, get the same service and experience the natural friendliness of the Portuguese people.
You will not have any trouble slowing down on this holiday in Portugal. The Portuguese word for tomorrow is ámanha and it is often humorously translated as "not today", so chill out, relax and recharge those batteries. Because the weather is so good and generally so predictable, Barbequing is also a favourite pastime along with relaxing, sightseeing and, of course, enjoying the privacy of your own pool. |
